2009 New Year’s Goals

I’ve made some goals for 2009. I prefer the word goals versus resolutions, the word resolutions does not seem as “serious” as goals. What are your goals for 2009? Mine are rather simple and short:

– Actually keep in touch with friends. I have been such a slacker in that regards and I am going to improve.
– My computer technician husband and I finding new jobs, but not here in Italy, within Europe and not in the United States.
– Healthier lifestyle.

Resolution not as serious as goals? I’d have to disagree. I thought resolution comes from the word resolute, which basically means firm determination. Sounds pretty serious to me. šŸ˜‰

  2. those sounds like good ones to me.

    Hey Ann,
What happened to your plans to live in Canada? Did you change your mind?

  4. Martin in Bulgaria

I’m sure you will score with your ‘goals’.

  5. Modern Princess, everyone has their own way of looking at things. For New Year's, I prefer to use the word goals instead of resolutions.

Bev, Nothing has changed as far as planning on moving to Canada. Started looking over the Christmas holidays for work for my hubby. Of course there wasn't much out there due to Christmas, Boxing Day & New Year's. Now that the holidays are over, hopefully there will be more to be found.

  6. I wish you all the best with your goals for 2009 šŸ™‚

  7. My goal would be to clear my credit card debt (something I started in Oct last year). So far I’m right on track šŸ™‚

  8. Happy New YEar Ann! Wishing you all the best in 2009.

  10. Why don’t you want to live in the United States?

  11. The US seems to be the last place to live if you need a job right now, so good move. Good luck with your goals!

  12. Por lo regular ya no me gusta tener objetivos de promesa antes del fin de aƱo, me gusta mas en el transcurso del mismo.

    Saludos a todos desde Mexico

  13. Thanks Zaja. John, like Zaja mentioned, the job market, the economy at the moment are obviously not in the best of shape. Plus my husband doesn’t exactly approve of the private health care system.

    How’s the job hunting going?

  15. Goals verses resolutions… I agree it’s better to have short term goals that you can stand a chance of achieving. A major problem with resolutions are that they can be too overwhelming – which can result in the breaking of them… which we all know we’ve done at some point!

    All the best for 2009!!

  18. Martin, the job hunt is going. IT is a tough and competitive market. Plus with the holidays the job hunt was basically at a stand still. Now have recommenced. Have only heard back from one or two places saying that they’ve already hired for the position. Going to keep on looking!

  19. Hi Ann, I found your blog through Entrecard. I hope you don’t mind that I am here. I just wonder what is the word “Expat” means.
And by the way, you got a very nice blog here. šŸ™‚

  20. Grace, I don’t mind at all! Expat is short for Expatriate. Short definition is an Expat is someone that has moved for some reason to another country, whether temporarily or on a permanent basis.

  22. Hey Anonymous, why not try using spell check before posting a comment. While you’re at it, why not check how to spell my name correctly. My first name is plastered all over the place on my blog yet you are unable to spell it correctly. Another thing, why do you post under anonymous, do you have something to hide?
