Bellinzona Switzerland, again

Yesterday went up to Bellinzona, Switzerland again.  It may seem that we are there quite frequently, which in fact is true.  My husband had to go to Bellinzona Switzerland for work and he invited me to tag along.  Yesterday was a beautiful sunny cool day so was a perfect day to get out of the house and also a change of scenery.  While my husband was working I went for lunch and was able to almost finish our Christmas shopping.  Have all but one person done.  Yeah!!!

Here are some photos from Bellinzona Switzerland.  Look at the detail of the painting on these buildings!  I enjoying going up to Bellinzona Switzerland, it is a small town of about 17,000 people, it is a clean town.  People seem to be friendlier compared to here in Busto Arsizio Italy.  People actually make eye contact, return your hello.

  5. Beautiful! Wish I could be there… Maybe stop by for a lunch or a coffee and watch the people walk by :o)

  6. I wonder if this is how Italy looked when everything was new and clean? It is great to see pictures of beautiful buildings without graffiti!

  7. Nice photos. Bellinzona seems very neat and tidy!
Lucky you to have done all your Christmas shopping. I have yet to figure out what to buy…

  8. Thanks everyone for the great comments!

Gil, that’s a good question. I can imagine that there are places in Italy that probably do exist like this. For sure Riccione, which is near Rimini along the Adriatic coast. Then again, that area is pretty touristic…

  9. Thanks for the tour. My sister lives in Switzerland, near Zurich. She never wants to leave Europe, she loves it there!

My stepdad is from Pacentro, IT…not sure if you are near there or not.

How exciting to live in Europe 🙂

Found you via Entrecard, nice to meet you!

  10. Pretty pics. How long does it take for you to get to Switzerland? Do you fly?

  11. Great shots! The top two photos remind me very much of Venice, Italy when I was there a few years ago.

I’ll have to put this on my “wanna visit” list!

  12. Oh my Ann how wonderful to be able to travel around so much.

I love all of the pictures. I think you are living my dream life.

So please keep up the good work..okay?:-)

  13. Ann – it’s so beautiful! I’m happy you got to get out and enjoy such beauty.. Next time call me and make sure I tag along too. 😉

  14. J. Doe, we live MAYBE 45 minutes from the Swiss/Italian border by car and Bellinzona is MAYBE an hour and a half from our place. So pretty close.

    Shinade – Will try 😉

Hey Expat Traveler, we’re going to Lucerne Switzerland this weekend, wanna come?

One of your earlier postings makes me think you’d be interested in a book, Persephone’s Island, by Mary Taylor Simeti, an American woman who went to Italy for a short visit, fell in love, and has been living in Sicily since the 1960s. It’s a wonderfully vivid portrait of her life in Sicily, its history, food and the changes it has experienced since the 19th century.

  16. Absolutely beautiful. I would love to visit, what a dream come true that would be. Thank you for sharing.

  17. I loved those pictures!
But the text was a little awkward to read!
Maybe you should try to change to a different template so you can get pictures in better with text? I’ve got a great one on my site. (Sorry for the plug, but look at my beautiful template!) I found it searching for free blogger templates online. Blogspot lets you use any template you find online, and there are some really nice ones. The default ones are a little too restrictive, I think at least.

I didn’t quite understand at the end of your post, if you were trying to say that people in Switzerland were more or less friendly than in Italy. It certainly is very pretty up there!

  18. Milo, thank you for the suggestions. I have been thinking recently of changing my template, but just haven’t found the time to do so.

In my little experience, my impression of the areas of Switzerland we’ve been to, that the Swiss seemed a bit friendlier compared to NORTHERN Italians.

  19. Hi Ann,
I am so glad I ran across your blog, and esp this one on Bellinzona, because this last weekend it gave me inspiration to go there myself. I live across the lakes near Borgosesia and it tickled me pink to find another American soul here.

    Good to “meet” you.
